Colin B. Exelby, CFP®
Colin Exelby is a financial advisor and Partner with Armstrong Dixon. With over sixteen years experience assessing complex financial situations, Mr. Exelby provides comprehensive advice on how to manage cash flow, structure and diversify client holdings, manage risk, optimize asset placement, help assess tax situations, and optimize charitable giving.
His passion is investing. When he began his career as a financial advisor back in 2000 it was the middle of the technology bubble. Much of what he studied was put to the test immediately. It was at that point, Mr. Exelby realized his calling. He enjoys helping individuals discover and pursue their financial goals over the course of their lives.
Mr. Exelby was born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. Relocating to the east coast, Mr. Exelby played collegiate basketball at Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. A three-year starter at shooting guard and senior captain, Mr. Exelby still ranks among the school's leaders in three-pointers made.
He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a major in finance and minor in economics from the Frank Perdue School of Business. He was inducted into to the National Leadership Society, Omicron Delta Kappa his senior year.
Immediately following graduation, Mr. Exelby accepted a position as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley in Baltimore, Maryland where he practiced wealth management for nine years. In 2009, he decided to take the next step in his career by starting his own firm Celestial Wealth Management, LLC. In 2015 the firm merged with Armstrong Dixon.
Mr. Exelby has appeared in a number of publications including the Wall Street Journal, U.S. News World & Report, The Baltimore Business Journal, Fiduciary News, Business Monthly of Howard County, Salisbury University Alumni News, Student Loan Hero, InsuranceNews.net, AdvisorNews.com, Policy Genius, Magnify Money, Generations of Howard and Anne Arundel County and Monster.com. Colin devotes time and resources to his alma mater as well as his local community. He serves on the Department of Economics and Finance Advisory Council at Salisbury University as well as being a board member of the Towson Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Exelby currently lives with his wife, Jennifer and his two daughters in Towson, MD. Colin enjoys running 5ks with his family. He also still hits the hardwood to play hoops with friends in the area and is a step slower but can still knock down the three.
